The  "Physician Payments Sunshine Provision" of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 requires that medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech companies begin reporting gifts or payments  starting  January 1, 2012 with detailed specifications as to how payment data is to be submitted made available October 1st 2011.

The database contains records of payments to healthcare practitioners and other payees from  pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers who have made national data publicly available on their websites (last updated Nov 16th 2011)

Currently the database contains over 1,000,000 individual payment records representing total payments of over $1.75 billion to more than 500,000 Healthcare practitioners in the United States.

 

 

The  "Physician Payments Sunshine Provision" of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 requires that medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech companies begin reporting gifts or payments  starting  January 1, 2012. This information is to be reported to HHS  by March 31, 2013, and annually thereafter. HHS will then post this information on a publicly available, searchable on-line database as of September 30, 2013, and on June 30 of each year beginning thereafter.
